Almost…

True, there are going to be no more worries about getting your hair exactly right before that big date or interview, no need to check your hair still looks good whenever you are out, no need to keep combing over to hide that ever increasing bald spot. But that does not mean you do not have to care for your bald pate and your ever-vulnerable scalp. Even though you may be suffering from hair loss, to a certain extent you have now got the reverse problem… your hair keeps on growing…

So for a start let’s get the shaving process straight. It’s easy, it’s quick, and it needs to be done regularly.

When to shave…

A good idea is to shave your head at the end of a warm shower. The effect this will have is to soften any hair growth, open the pores and wash the skin. During showering rub a soapy cloth against the grain of growth – this will help with shaving.

Soften those follicles…

Apply your favourite shaving cream and allow it to sit on the scalp for a minute to further soften the hair. Note that hair products which contain menthol will have the effect of closing the pores.

Check the rear view mirror…

Make sure you have a hand mirror to help you shave the back of your head and shave in a room with good lighting so you get a nice even shave. As we said above you can use a clipper, but when growth is small you can also use a sharp razor. Try to keep to a routine in how you shave. Gliding the razor gently down the sides and back and from back to front on top is recommended.

Splash with cold water to finish…

Once you have finished rub you entire head in order to check for those missed spots If you cut yourself apply a moist alum block to prevent bleeding. Finish the shave with a splash of cold water to close the pores and then pat the head dry and apply a good aftershave balm.

Don’t forget the sun can leave your head dry and flaky so remember to use a good moisturizer on your scalp every morning. Also your scalp is more vulnerable to the sun in the summer months so always use a good sunscreen before long exposure to the sun.
