I think balding clippers are ok for people with some hair still on top. If you have no hair on top at all I think balding clippers would only be good for a few hours and you wouldn’t get a full day out of them. Balding clippers would be ok to use before you go out and in-between shaves for a quick fix. I have no hair on top at all and if I shave in the morning, by the following morning I can start to see the blend going, so I know I couldn’t get away with using them!

I have the bald eagle shaver and use it a lot and I also have a Braun series 3 which I had before SMP. I tend to use the Braun if I want a closer shaver or if I have left it over a day as the bald eagle is only really good for short stubble.

Its worrying that they are still trading and accepting new clients without telling them the state of the business. A post appeared on the forum which quickly disappeared and now the forum is blocking anyone signing up with a new account to prevent future clients seeing any links to the news.

There is no mention of it on their forum now and everyone is happily convincing more people to take up the treatment with them. I’m guessing the forum admins are deleting any posts mentioning it very quickly. I would have thought there would be some sort of public notice that would have to be posted on their website to inform potential future customers?

Moisturise your head as much as you can between now and your first session. I did it for about a week 2-3 times a day on the run up, it helps the pigment take as your skin won’t be dry. Shave as close as you can on the morning of your session as you can’t shave for 4 days afterwards.

ScarBoy, I have a HT strip scar and what shearer is saying is spot on. It doesn’t matter how good the cover up, most scars either dip in or stick out so in bright light or close up they will be seen as in the shape even if the SMP is perfect. Marcin has done a fantastic job on my scar and even close up its not too visible, but if bright light shines on the back of my head then the scar shows 3D bumps, nothing to do with the SMP its the bumps of the scar. Most people will see these as creases in your head, its only people who know what their looking for will actually see a scar so most of us will be worrying over nothing.

I’ve never wet shaved, but I do have a Braun 390 and a bald eagle skull shaver. The skull shaver is rotatory and doesn’t handle any length to the stubble, if I go over 1 day then its a struggle, but the Braun 390 (same a series 7 just less powerful) can handle the day 4 shave easy enough. Both give a close shave which lasts me 24 hours. If my Braun 390 gives up at any point I would probably invest in the Braun Series 7, but no point at the minute when I have the 390. I don’t think the Skull shaver is ok on its own unless you shave everyday without fail. Most people have a few different methods of shaving and flick between them depending on circumstances. I think its a case of trying what you have and see how it goes then investing in something new if your not getting the results you want. Don’t go out and kit yourself out with expensive gear and creams etc until you have seen how you get on. I already had the Braun 390 which I used on my face, I rushed out to buy the Skull Shaver before my first treatment, which is good and worth the money, but if I had waited and tried the Braun on my head I probably wouldn’t have bothered with the Skull Shaver. Basically if you have something to hand already give that ago first and take it from there. Most stuff can be bought on the net and delivered next day so no need to rush into getting anything.

coconuthead is spot, shaving even with a wet razor will still leave a shadow. The reason for going close is if you have stubble it creates a 3D effect and then if someone is within a meter of your head they will see 3D stubble and flat stubble giving the treatment away. The guys who get away with 3D stubble are the ones who have hair on top so the illusion can work. I wanted buzz cut when I first started looking at this, but its surprising after the treatment that shaved down there is still a strong shadow. I wore a system so didn’t have the ability to test the look first, but if you have a few days off work where you can shave down to see what it looks like I would recommend it, you will get a feel for the shade your finished look will be.

Ryanblake297, If you look on the bottom of this page https://skalp.com/en/faq/

    It quotes:
Treatment cost depends on the level of pigmentation required but as a guide 3 treatments for a Norwood scale level 3-4 pattern balding will cost around £2000 ($3,320 in USD) and full coverage of a completely bald head will cost £3000. ($4,985 in USD)

Hi Chris, any update of how you got on at the weekend?

Hi Chrisfletcher, my hair seems to grow quite fast and so far I can only get away with shaving every day with an electric shaver. If I shave in the morning I can get away with probably up to lunchtime the following day before the 3D effect starts to show. I have never tried to wet shave yet so I’m not sure if that would give me the extra to get a full 2 days between shaves, I’m happy shaving every morning its only 2-3 minutes zipping the electric over my head.

For me reading the reviews and forums around the internet, most of the other companies seems to have hit their peek and declining in quality and customer service. Whereas Skalp seem to be growing stronger and better with quality and customer service. The hairlines being posted on here are getting better and better, and after all for me the hairline is the main part of this treatment, if thats wrong then everything is wrong. The hairline is the key to how real it looks, its what everyone sees first and judges.

I had a similar experience except mine was mid way through the sessions! You have seen my thread where I had a wobble after session 2. It all hit me after session 2 that I was ready to go into the big wide world with the SMP and freaked out. The Skalp guys do a good job at counselling which is why I think its so important that all of them have had the treatment themselves. They don’t tell you what you want to hear they can tell you their own experience warts n all. Now looking back after my 4th session I should have trusted in the process and the guys Marcin and Antonio!
