SMP won’t help with the shine at all.. It’s beneath the skin and the shine is caused above it. Mitigate it with Garnier PureAtiv Matte Control moisturiser with Salicylic Acid. Brilliant stuff. Use sparingly.
..one other thing to anyone concerned about fading… don’t forget to play the long game. You are not getting your hair back with this “treatment”. You’re getting a realistic tattoo. Build it up over time! if people dont notice that’s an incredibly good thing! it means it looks so natural thats theres nothing to comment on! when was the last time you commented on someones hair? especially a blokes? trust me, the further down the line u get, the more ull appeeciate the decision not to go too dark and not to get it too defined…
I haven’t read the whole thread, but i gather the recent pics are after session 2 and your concern is with fading? Don’t worry. Look at my ‘mammoth’ post from a couple of years ago. I expressed similar concerns. Skalp WILL work with you untill you are 100% happy with it. Ignore the 3 session BS, they want you to be happy and will not allow you to walk away a dissatisfied customer.. Trust me, I ended up having about 5 or 6 sessions under the same initial cost. Mine simply wasn’t taking, but 2 years later i couldnt be happier with the look, the service or anything else about it.. Just be patient bro, it’ll all come good – don’t stay quiet though.. be sure to raise ur concerns until u, in your heart, are happy as larry with the result 🙂
Hi Tom, i got mine done around 2.5yrs ago and i think its getting better with age.. It looks even more natural now then it did then.. i dont think I’ll be topping up until at leas the 5 year mark. There’s also the concern about getting it too filled in and it eventually looking painted on as the dots start to blend in one to the other… at the moment mine is just about perfect, whereby in sunlight it looks quite light (as it naturally would) and in the evening it can look dark as hell, which is just magic. My ‘hairline’ is quite defined at the moment, but at the 5yr mark I’ll be considering getting that softened as well as a VERY light touch up.. After 2.5yrs, I’m still seriously chuffed with it.. Maybe post a pic so we can see how urs is looking and offer our thoughts?
……waaaiiiiitttt a second here… Fantastic results -no doubt the best I’ve tried BUT… just read some info re. using this on skin is not the best idea due to high pH levels.. not recommended for long term use either.. i think I’ll save this for the specical occassions and only use a small amount at a time… until then I’ll stick with my next favourite – Garnier Suncream 🙂
@ralphy. Mate that MoM is the NUTS!! What have i been missing out on for the last year+??? I’m shocked how effective that is.. That’s jy new ‘go-to’! Cheers for that 🙂
Great to hear you’ve done so much research. Perhaps more research into Skalp themselves will help clear things up. They’re so far ahead of the game. Look at their instagram account for a ton of pictures (@skalp.clinic). The soft hairlines they can achieve are incredible. They don’t do big dots, it all looks extremely natural imo.
Bottom line is: does SMP look better than what you’re currently rocking with? If it does, and you can afford it and you want to commit, than its an incredible confidence booster. I’ve had it for well over a year now and my experience is totally positive. Exciting, scary and confusing sometimes, but it leads to the best possible place 🙂
It bugs me when people come on here and say ‘I’ve seen some photos on this forum that dont look that real’. In the same breath u even mentioned the actual client is really happy with their result. So lets focus on that:
Have you seen SMP in real life?
Have you been to a consultation?
Have asked anyones opinion on ur own fibre solution??
The fibres are not a good look, the hairline is too low and unnatural. If i were u, I’d rock the bald look and shave it all off, or I’d go for smp. SMP, when done by pros like Skalp, looks incredible. Go for a consultation, and tell me I’m wrong.
SMP is life changing. Just make sure ur ready for that change before u commit, then enjoy the ride 🙂
not the clearest of pictures to be fair.. looks good for a first session to me.. i can see a hair line for starters! its comes together in the 2nd session just be patient..
Hi LJ, not me.. I’m also naturally blonde so had a ton of concerns at the beginning.. No worries now though 🙂
Ralphy, where do you get your milk of magnesia?
if I’ve let it grow for 3 days, I’ll:
cover my head with shaving foam
cut it short as possible with zero bladed clippers
run over my entire head with skull shaver
run over the top of my head with a foil shaver
rinse with warm water and dry
chuck some garnier 30spf matte sun cream or loreal matte stuff all over head and face.
good to go 🙂
next day to keep it down I’ll just use skull shaver dry and oneblade by phillips on top of my head..
ryan upload a photo mate we cant advise anything without seeig what we’re working with.. lets ha e alook and I’ll give you my 100% honest opinion.. u dont have to show ur face…
Bill, i imagine there’s hundreds of us that go through the same thing. With no scientific advice, why risk it? Leave it as long as you reasonably can based on the advice you’ve seen. If that’s 30 days, then leave it 30 days. I take it you don’t want to go back if you can help it? It’s a one off (pending future top ups) so get it right i would say..
1 week between the 1st two sessions.. If you shave your head on the morning of the procedure, you’ll be walking away from the session with a fuller head of ‘hair’ than when u started, so there’s really nothing to lose.. I typically use a rotary shaver on a daily basis, and a foil shaver on top once every couple of days or so… some people prefer to leave it growing out for a couple of days but i love the shortest look possible.. its faultless!
Hi Hazed, i would advise getting their number from the website and giving them a call. They will almost certainly be able to arrange a consultation based on your timetable -so you can get to them and see it in real life very soon. Ask any questions, put down a deposit if ur confident, and get ur 1st session booked in! Good luck 🙂
