Narb, you make a good point. There are articles out there which suggests that the product contains high PH levels which ultimtately could be bad for your skin. However, as attested by many, if used in moderation any harm done will be highly unlikely. I only use it Mon -Fri, a drop a day. When I get home from work, I shower and then moisturise my scalp with a normal moiusturiser such as Nivea.
There are lots of discussions on Internet forums regarding the use. Antonio at Skalp who did my head also says he uses it religiously and has done for years.
One of the best SMP jobs I’ve seen. Looks the absolute bollox. Perfect shade matching and not too dense or sharp either equating to a natural looking head!!
I should also add that a bottle of MofM will probably last me 9 months as you only need a drop the size of a 10 p piece in the palm of your hand. Only a fiver, so great value when you compare it to say the little L’Oréal Matte product. Just google SMP Milk of Magnesia and you’ll see that it’s widely used by our peers.
LJ – yes, I am dark skinned.
Narb – I bought it in Boots, on Fenchurch St London to be precise 😉 . Leaves my head dry for hours, sometimes more than a day even with showering. Stuff is weird
No mate, the Milk of Magnesia in particular leaves your head bone dry for up to 8 hours.
Morning – warm shower to open up pours, Nivea sensitive shaving foam, wet shave against the grain. Dry head, Nivea sensitive post shave balm applied. Then either one of the following products dependent upon what I’ll be doing that day and the weather. 1) Sunny weather, La Roche Matt sun cream SPF30, 2) Milk of Magnesia in work days as it keeps me oil free for longer. 3) L’Oréal Anti Shine thingy at the weekend or if I’m not going anywhere. I find this is only good for 4 hours or so.
Evening – I wash scalp with warm soapy water, dry and then moisrurise with Johnson’s baby lotion
Have you tried calling them to ask your questions? Probably would have been quicker doing that as opposed to creating a profile and posting here! Give them a call and arrange a consultation.
Although I went 3 shades darker and changed my hairline, there was no charge.
You don’t really need to be told about the shades. This is the practitioners domain unless you’re intrrested. Obviously there are different shades for different follicles e.g fair hair vs ginger hair or light brown hair vs jet black hair.
The treatment is three sessions. There is a fourth session in the form of a guarantee and the details of the guarantee can be found here:
Well, at the first session I had 16, second session I had 14 and then the third session the technician said I should go a bit darker like 12 and I said no stick with 14 as I bottled it and he agreed as there is’nt a huge amount of difference between the two. A year down the line it looked faded somewhat and my sides were starting to look darker than the top. I was never truly happy with the density and always thought it needed another session. Thus, I used my “warranty” session for a bit more density and went down to shade 8. Now, I couldn’t be happier and it finally looks finished. My only concern is that now it looks good, but concerned that when the 4th session fades (as each session does from 30 days onwards) it will look light again and maybe I should have went down to 6 or even 4 to account for the expected fading. I am a thinker though hahaha.
In case you haven’t seen this, these are the guidelines from Skalp: https://skalp.com/faq/aftercare/
I had a 4th session last Friday (5 days ago). I am already wet shaving again, albeit with great care. I went to the gym today, sweated like a mofo and then showered and moisturised my head.
Generally speaking, I moisturise 2/3 times a day. Every morning I use Nivea sensitive post balm after I wet shave mainly back and sides and L’Oréal matte on top. Late afternoon I put some more L’Oréal on. Before bed I use Johnson’s baby lotion.
Just relax mate and moisturise away!
Yeah mate, be interested in an update also. You still have the best results I have ever seen!
How about a swimming cap?
